Case
Case material: 316L stainless steelThe 316L stainless steel, which Certina uses for cases, bracelets and clasps for instance, is extremely resistant, corrosion-resistant and hygienic. It contains only a very small proportion of nickel, which is not emitted when worn and therefore does not trigger any nickel allergies.
Bezel material: 316L stainless steelThe 316L stainless steel, which Certina uses for cases, bracelets and clasps for instance, is extremely resistant, corrosion-resistant and hygienic. It contains only a very small proportion of nickel, which is not emitted when worn and therefore does not trigger any nickel allergies.
, CeramicThe ceramic used in watchmaking is hardened in a firing process at a temperature of more than 900 °C. Certina's ceramic bezels, cabochons and strap elements not only look good - they are also scratch-resistant and hypoallergenic, and they retain their intensive colour and shine for a long time.
, Super-LumiNovaSLN is the acronym for Super-LumiNova®, a phosphorescent luminescent material. The BG W9 type of SLN, used by Certina, emits the stored light in the form of a bluish glow in the dark. SLN poses no risk to health and is used to coat hands, indices and bezels. Its brightness decreases in the dark after some time, but it is automatically recharged when light strikes it.
Glass: Antireflection treatment on one sideIt is possible to enhance the quality of a sapphire crystal to an even greater extent by providing it with an anti-reflective coating on one or both sides. The Certina brand is becoming increasingly focussed on equipping its timepieces with an extremely high-quality anti-reflective coating on both sides, whereby several layers of this coating on both sides of the crystal ensure that it is possible to see through the timepieces in an optimum manner.
, Sapphire crystalSapphire watch crystal is made of aluminium oxide power (Al2O3) heated to over 2000 °C. The resultant sapphire nugget is cut with great precision into fine slices, trimmed and polished. Sapphire is extremely scratch-resistant, shock-resistant and is very transparent. This is why sapphire crystal is an essential element in the DS Concept and is therefore used by Certina in all of its models to protect the dials.

Dial
Color: Mother of pearl
Material: Diamond(s) It is rightfully considered to be the king of gemstones: Diamond is the hardest natural material in the world. Rough diamonds are polished for use in the watch and jewellery industry and assessed by means of the four "C" criteria: Cut: The cut refers to the individual shape of the diamond. The more meticulously and professionally the stone has been faceted, the more intensively it reflects the light. Certina uses brilliant-cut diamonds for the case and octagon-cut ones for the dial. Colour: At first glance, you would be forgiven for thinking that all diamonds are white. However, experts distinguish between fine nuances in shades - Certina only uses Top Wesselton diamonds. Clarity: Almost every diamond has minimal inclusions which can be detected by a professional through a magnifying glass but are usually invisible to the naked eye. Certina processes diamonds from the coveted VSI (very small inclusions) grade. Carat: The carat is the unit that defines the weight of a diamond. One carat is equal to 0.2 g. The diamonds used by Certina have different carat numbers depending on the model - they are noted for each watch in the sales manual. Certina only uses diamonds which fulfil the conditions of the Kimberley Process, an international system for certifying rough diamonds. It helps to prevent trade in smuggled diamonds - referred to as "blood diamonds" - which are used to finance wars.
, Mother of pearlMOP is the acronym for mother-of-pearl. This organic material, which Certina uses for particularly precious dials on women's watches, comes from the innermost layer of shell of some molluscs. Iridescent, shimmery mother-of-pearl is very brittle and must be processed with great care, which makes it even more valuable.

, 80-hr power reserveThe power reserve provides you with information about how long a mechanical timepiece can run for without being wound. Most timepieces have a power reserve of around 38 to 42 hours. Certina's innovative Powermatic 80 automatic calibre offers a power reserve of up to 80 hours - almost double as long as comparable models.
, NivachronAn innovative new titanium-based alloy that is used for balance springs. This revolutionary material was developed in collaboration with the Swatch Group and is used in selected brands. Nivachron springs are highly resistant to magnetic fields, shock, ageing and temperature fluctuations, lending them extremely high mechanical precision and making them remarkably reliable in everyday use.
